Od iskierki z popielnika do pożogi : motyw ognia i jego funkcje w wybranych utworach dla dzieci i młodzieży
2021
Authors of literature for children and young adults are reluctant to use the theme of fire despite the fact that fiery metaphors were used by editors of interwar and post- -WW1I magazines aimed at this age group: Płomyk (Flame), Płomyczek (Little Flame), Mały Płomyczek (Tiny Flame), Słonko (Little Sun), and Iskierki (Sparks). Perhaps there is a lack o f ideas for presenting it in an interesting way that refrains from didacticism and empty moralizing. Texts about fire show the opposition o f good and evil. Authors o f poems aim to stimulate visual perception o f the reader through a palette o f colours ranging from yellow to orange to red. There is also black, introduced in the form of a smo…

El tema de la diversidad sexual en la clase de ELE para niños: "El día de la rana roja"
2016
[EN] The family is the foundation and unifying force of children’s education. New family models have emerged in the last decades including single-parent, homosexual, and multicultural families. If this is an everyday reality, why not show it in the Spanish as a foreign language class through literature? We propose using picture books and the power of both images and words to teach children not only linguistic competence but also emotional intelligence. El día de la rana roja is chosen to illustrate how to teach Spanish as a foreign language through the story of two princes that is full of symbolism and readaptations of traditional topoi. It is an all-embracing, optimistic, and accepting sto…

This paper purports to shed light on primary school teachers’ initial training in the field of creative writing, rewriting and rough draft practices. It analyses a corpus of various pieces of writing by school children and trainee teachers, collected through the implementation of a teaching unit using authors’ and children’s literature writers’ drafts and working documents with children aged 8-11 (CE2-CM) on the one hand, and with trainee teachers on the other. As part of a seminar on introduction to research, these trainee teachers thus questioned their own writing practices, their conception of rewriting and their teaching practices

Härmistetty kuolema: pelonhallintaa zombi-kuvakirjoissa
2018
Artikkeli tarkastelee zombikuvakirjojen tapoja käsitellä zombeissa ruumiillistuvaa rumaa ja väkivaltaista kuolemaa. Se keskittyy erityisesti tapoihin, joilla zombeihin liittyviä pelkoja pyritään kuvakirjoissa hallitsemaan. Kaunistavan, tieteellisiä selityksiä painottavan estetisoinnin lisäksi se tarttuu esteettisen härmistämisen käsitteeseen, eräänlaiseen naurettavaksi tekevään rumentamiseen, jonka se liittää taikauskoon ja kuvamagiaan. Vaikka esteettistä härmistämistä voidaan pitää animistisuudessaan jossain määrin primitiivisenä ja lapsellisena esitystapana, artikkeli esittää, että se on lopulta melko yleinen populaarikulttuurinen pelonhallinnan tapa. Alentaessaan ja karnevalisoidessaan y…

The Other Side as a Rule Rather than an Exception
2015
Abstract Currently, intercultural and heterogeneous realities set the tone in 21st literary education. Therefore, the role of multicultural children's literature plays an essential role in order to reflect this intercultural diversity in Spanish classrooms. In this regard, The Other Side (2001) portrays an African American experience where interaction, communication and negotiation become crucial aspects for their protagonists. In this way, this picture book can be used not only to teach English as a foreign language in primary school, but also to show values like respect, tolerance and partnership.
